After over 10 years of her role as Secretary and Trustee, Eliza Snelgar announced her retirement from the Rakiura Māori Lands Trust, stepping down after careful consideration and with a deep sense of gratitude for the opportunity to serve.
Eliza said her decision to retire was not made lightly and reflects a desire to refocus her time and energy on personal commitments and emerging opportunities.
“It has been a privilege to contribute to the kaupapa of the Rakiura Māori Lands Trust and to work alongside trustees, whānau, and stakeholders who are genuinely committed to the advancement of our whenua and our people. I am proud of what we have achieved together, and I remain confident in the Trust’s ongoing direction and leadership.”
During her tenure, Eliza supported key initiatives aimed at strengthening governance practices, enhancing engagement with beneficiaries, and upholding the long-term sustainability of the Trust’s lands and operations.
“My respect for the Trust and its mission remains unwavering. I extend my heartfelt thanks to the trustees and to the many individuals who have supported me throughout my time in the role. I look forward to seeing the continued progress of the Trust in the years to come.”
